How does SocialWish Work?

SocialWish makes fundraising easy, affordable and social. It's a web application that takes advantage of social networking and a simple payment engine so anyone, anywhere in the world can create a social fundraising campaign or what we call a wish.

Getting started on SocialWish is easy and it's FREE. Once you register and verify your account via an emailed link, you're ready to setup your profile and create your wish.

Setting Up Your Organization/Individual Profile

Whether you're an organization, group or individual, you'll be able to set up a profile to describe who you are: Create an organization name (if you're an individual, you can simply use your name), select the organization type (charitable, education, project, etc.), add a description and provide a URL if you like. You can also indicate if you're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which will help alert a donor that their donation is tax-deductible.

Creating a Wish

Creating a fundraising campaign on SocialWish is simple. Just give your campaign a name then enter the start and end dates, your goal amount (minimum value is $100), and a description. After clicking "Submit", you can further define your wish by adding:

• Photos (video option coming soon)
• Fundraising Items – If you're raising money for specific items, you can add each item individually and specify the goal amount for each item (minimum value is $5). Donors will then have the option to donate to an individual item or your campaign as a whole.
• Campaign Managers – The person creating the wish (the campaign manager) can add additional managers to monitor and assist with the campaign.

Setting Up Your Payment Processor

You can choose to process payments for your organization through your Authorize.net account or PayPal account. Donations made to your campaign will be deposited into the account you choose. This creates a direct pass through of funds, so there's no waiting time to collect the money raised for your campaign!

Sharing a Wish

Now it's time to make your campaign really social! SocialWish gives you many tools to easily connect with your network and beyond. Share your wish on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Post it on Tumblr or LinkedIn. You can even host your entire campaign on your website or blog using the Lightbox and Widget tools. Plus, since your network can access these sharing tools from your campaign page too, they can also share your wish and help you spread the word. Just think about all your friends, campaign supporters, board members, etc. using these tools to promote your campaign and even doing so directly from their own website or blog. That's the power of SocialWish!
